Works, but BCEA leave needed configuring

The configuration took longer than promised, and it works well now. BCEA leave correct with no configuration. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. It is a reasonable choice, provided you know what it does not do.

What works

BCEA leave correct with no configuration. The employee record is well organised.

What does not

There is no local payroll integration. The mobile experience is weaker than the desktop.

There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. If you are weighing it up, do the trial with your own data and you will see it.

Solid core, disappointing reporting

Solid for the core, but we still keep a spreadsheet for the reporting we actually need. Workplace skills plan and annual training report in SETA format. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Fine for our needs. Test it properly against your own requirements.

What works

What does not

The mobile experience is weaker than the desktop. Performance management is basic.

Support hours never overlap with ours

It was clearly built for a different labour market. The honest position is that the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. Test it hard during the trial with real volume before committing.

What works

The employee database itself is fine.

What does not

The interface is dated and slow. Leave rules never matched South African requirements. Support hours do not overlap with our working day.
