No real understanding of South African labour law

It was clearly built for a different labour market. For context, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. It has cost us more time than it has saved. It may suit a simpler business than ours.

What works

The employee database itself is fine.

What does not

Support hours do not overlap with our working day. The interface is dated and slow. Leave rules never matched South African requirements.

Managers use it without being chased

We had leave in a shared spreadsheet for six years. This was overdue. Skills development and B-BBEE scorecard support. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

What works

Health and safety compliance handled as part of the relationship. The employee file holds everything in one place with proper permissions. Leave requests and approvals happen on the phone without training.

What does not

Recruitment is a separate module at a separate price.

The employee file being in one place made our last inspection straightforward. Employment equity plans built to survive an inspection. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. If you are weighing it up, do the trial with your own data and you will see it.

Solid core, disappointing reporting

Solid for the core, but we still keep a spreadsheet for the reporting we actually need. Skills development and B-BBEE scorecard support. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Good value, with some real rough edges.

What does not

Performance management is basic. The mobile experience is weaker than the desktop.
