Solid, boring, and that is exactly what I wanted

We moved across from a desktop package eighteen months ago and I would not go back. Thirty years of trained South African operators. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

Works through load shedding and connection loss. Month end close has dropped from six days to two. Our accountant has their own login at no extra cost.

What does not

Support response times slow noticeably at month end.

Our bookkeeper got two days a month back

After two years I can say the reconciliation time saving is real and it is significant. A report writer that will produce almost any layout. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

Thirty years of trained South African operators. Bank feeds match transactions accurately and the rules learn quickly. Our accountant has their own login at no extra cost.

What does not

Support response times slow noticeably at month end.

Cheaper than the alternatives, and you find out why

We committed to this on a recommendation and I regret not testing it properly first. In practice, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. It may suit a simpler business than ours.

What works

The invoicing side works.

What does not

Migration lost historical detail we needed for the audit. Bank feed failures went unresolved for weeks. The VAT handling required constant manual correction.

Works well once you accept its limits

It has been fine, with a couple of persistent irritations. Works through load shedding and connection loss. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. I would shortlist it, not necessarily pick it.
