Finally a ledger our accountant does not complain about

We moved across from a desktop package eighteen months ago and I would not go back. Thirty years of trained South African operators. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

Thirty years of trained South African operators. Multi currency handling is genuinely correct on unrealised gains. Our accountant has their own login at no extra cost.

What does not

The interface has not aged well.

Works well once you accept its limits

It has been fine, with a couple of persistent irritations. Thirty years of trained South African operators. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Fine for our needs. Test it properly against your own requirements.

What works

Works through load shedding and connection loss. The core ledger is reliable.

What does not

Inventory cannot handle multiple warehouses. There is no direct submission to eFiling, so the return is captured by hand.

I run the books for three related companies and this is the first system that has kept up. Multi warehouse inventory with serial, lot and bill of materials. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

Thirty years of trained South African operators. VAT201 figures come out right without a manual working paper. Multi currency handling is genuinely correct on unrealised gains.

What does not

The interface has not aged well.

Not built for a South African VAT vendor

We committed to this on a recommendation and I regret not testing it properly first. For context, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. Test it hard during the trial with real volume before committing.

Bank feed failures went unresolved for weeks. The VAT handling required constant manual correction. Support responses were slow and generic.

There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

A report writer that will produce almost any layout. Our accountant has their own login at no extra cost. VAT201 figures come out right without a manual working paper.

What does not

Inventory is too basic for a stock heavy business.
