Works, but BCEA leave needed configuring

The configuration took longer than promised, and it works well now. Modular pricing, so you pay only for what you switch on. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Fine for our needs. Test it properly against your own requirements.

What works

Genuinely easy for line managers to use without training. Leave management works reliably.

What does not

BCEA leave had to be configured rather than selected. The mobile experience is weaker than the desktop.

We went back to spreadsheets after nine months

It was clearly built for a different labour market. The honest position is that the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. It may suit a simpler business than ours.

What works

Document storage works.

What does not

The interface is dated and slow. Leave rules never matched South African requirements. Support hours do not overlap with our working day.

Employees actually log in, which surprised me

Managers approve leave from their phones now, which was the whole point. Clean mobile app for leave requests and approvals. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

What works

Modular pricing, so you pay only for what you switch on. Leave requests and approvals happen on the phone without training. Document storage with e signature removed a printing step entirely.

What does not

Reporting is adequate rather than strong.
