Leave requests left email and never came back

Managers approve leave from their phones now, which was the whole point. Leave accrual that follows BCEA rather than a US default. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. It is not perfect, and it is the right choice for us.

What works

Clean mobile app for leave requests and approvals. Document storage with e signature removed a printing step entirely. Onboarding checklists removed most of the first week paperwork.

What does not

Recruitment is a separate module at a separate price.

Used for less than 6 months

Our employment equity return took hours, not weeks

Managers approve leave from their phones now, which was the whole point. Modular pricing, so you pay only for what you switch on. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. If you are weighing it up, do the trial with your own data and you will see it.

What works

Leave accrual that follows BCEA rather than a US default. Reporting on headcount and turnover is available without asking IT. Leave requests and approvals happen on the phone without training.

What does not

Reporting is adequate rather than strong.

Managers use it without being chased

We had leave in a shared spreadsheet for six years. This was overdue. Modular pricing, so you pay only for what you switch on. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

Clean mobile app for leave requests and approvals. Leave requests and approvals happen on the phone without training. The employee file holds everything in one place with proper permissions.

What does not

Data is hosted offshore, which our information officer had to sign off.

Used for 6 to 12 months

The audit trail saved us at a CCMA hearing

The employee file being in one place made our last inspection straightforward. Leave accrual that follows BCEA rather than a US default. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

Onboarding admin dropped by half

Managers approve leave from their phones now, which was the whole point. Genuinely easy for line managers to use without training. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

What works

Clean mobile app for leave requests and approvals. Document storage with e signature removed a printing step entirely. Leave requests and approvals happen on the phone without training.

Works, but BCEA leave needed configuring

Solid for the core, but we still keep a spreadsheet for the reporting we actually need. Modular pricing, so you pay only for what you switch on. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. I would shortlist it, not necessarily pick it.

What works

Leave accrual that follows BCEA rather than a US default. Managers found it easy enough to use.

What does not

BCEA leave had to be configured rather than selected. Performance management is basic.

Good for leave, thin everywhere else

Solid for the core, but we still keep a spreadsheet for the reporting we actually need. Leave accrual that follows BCEA rather than a US default. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. It is a reasonable choice, provided you know what it does not do.

What works

Modular pricing, so you pay only for what you switch on. The employee record is well organised.

What does not

Performance management is basic. There is no local payroll integration.
