Migrated away after fourteen months

We committed to this on a recommendation and I regret not testing it properly first. In practice, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. Test it hard during the trial with real volume before committing.

What works

The invoicing side works.

What does not

The VAT handling required constant manual correction. Bank feed failures went unresolved for weeks. Support responses were slow and generic.

Cheaper than the alternatives, and you find out why

I have spent more time working around this than working in it. In practice, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. It has cost us more time than it has saved. It may suit a simpler business than ours.

What works

Migration lost historical detail we needed for the audit. The VAT handling required constant manual correction. Support responses were slow and generic.

VAT season stopped being a crisis

We moved across from a desktop package eighteen months ago and I would not go back. A genuine double entry ledger at no cost. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

What works

Unlimited invoices on the free plan. Our accountant has their own login at no extra cost. Month end close has dropped from six days to two.

What does not

Support response times slow noticeably at month end.

Right features, wrong price for our size

Good enough that changing again is not worth the disruption. Clean, uncluttered interface. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Good value, with some real rough edges.

What works

A genuine double entry ledger at no cost. Invoicing is quick once the templates are set.

What does not

There is no direct submission to eFiling, so the return is captured by hand. Inventory cannot handle multiple warehouses.

The interface has not aged well.

The report customisation is limited. Getting a person on the phone is difficult.

Bank feeds drop and need reauthorising more often than they should. Getting a person on the phone is difficult.

I run the books for three related companies and this is the first system that has kept up. No user limit, ever. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

Unlimited invoices on the free plan. Multi currency handling is genuinely correct on unrealised gains. Our accountant has their own login at no extra cost.

What does not

Reporting beyond the standard pack still ends up in a spreadsheet.
