Finally a ledger our accountant does not complain about

Our practice put four clients on this before we moved our own business across. Built in client portal at no extra cost. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

The most functionality per rand in the category by a wide margin. Bank feeds match transactions accurately and the rules learn quickly. VAT201 figures come out right without a manual working paper.

What does not

Support response times slow noticeably at month end.

Migration was painful, the result was worth it

We moved across from a desktop package eighteen months ago and I would not go back. Built in client portal at no extra cost. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. It is not perfect, and it is the right choice for us.

What works

A free plan that is genuinely usable, not a demo. Bank feeds match transactions accurately and the rules learn quickly. The audit trail has answered every query our auditors raised.

What does not

Support response times slow noticeably at month end.

Competent but the support tests your patience

It does what we need and I have no strong feelings about it either way. Built in client portal at no extra cost. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. It is a reasonable choice, provided you know what it does not do.

Bank feeds drop and need reauthorising more often than they should. Getting a person on the phone is difficult.

We chose this on price and mostly that decision has held up. A free plan that is genuinely usable, not a demo. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. Cheaper than the alternatives, and you find out why

We committed to this on a recommendation and I regret not testing it properly first. Where it earns its keep is that the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. Test it hard during the trial with real volume before committing.

What works

The invoicing side works.

What does not

Bank feed failures went unresolved for weeks. Migration lost historical detail we needed for the audit. Support responses were slow and generic.

The trial went well. Live use with real volume did not. The thing worth knowing is that the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. It may suit a simpler business than ours.
