Visibility across twelve projects, finally

The team asked to keep it after the trial, which has never happened before. An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. It is not perfect, and it is the right choice for us.

What works

Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. Everyone can see what is due this week without asking. Time tracking sits with the tasks, so billing is accurate.

What does not

Without governance the number of boards grows out of control.

Time tracking in the same tool changed our billing

We rolled it out to twenty two people and adoption was close to complete within a month. An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. I would recommend it to a business of our size without hesitation.

What works

Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. Automation handles the routine handoffs between teams. Everyone can see what is due this week without asking.

What does not

Seat bands mean paying for people who do not exist.

Great tool, we built it badly at first

Half the team lives in it and half still work from email. Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Good value, with some real rough edges.

What works

An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. Setup was quick.

What does not

Dollar pricing makes the budget unpredictable. The learning curve for the advanced features is real.

Time tracking in the same tool changed our billing

We rolled it out to twenty two people and adoption was close to complete within a month. Portfolio roll ups that give a programme director one honest view. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

What works

An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. Automation handles the routine handoffs between teams. Client facing views mean fewer status emails.

What does not

Reporting is weaker than the task management.

The whole team adopted it in a fortnight

Client status reporting used to take a morning a week. Now it takes ten minutes. Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. I would recommend it to a business of our size without hesitation.

What works

Critical path scheduling with dependencies and baselines. Client facing views mean fewer status emails. The mobile app is good enough for approvals on the road.

What does not

Seat bands mean paying for people who do not exist.

Great tool, we built it badly at first

It works, we just had to redo our structure after four months of getting it wrong. Critical path scheduling with dependencies and baselines. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. I would shortlist it, not necessarily pick it.

What works

Critical path scheduling with dependencies and baselines. The views are flexible.

What does not

The learning curve for the advanced features is real. Performance degrades on a large workspace.

Reporting could not answer basic questions

Performance on our office connection made it a chore. For context, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. It has cost us more time than it has saved. Test it hard during the trial with real volume before committing.

What works

The free tier is generous.

What does not

Half the team never adopted it. It was too slow on our connection. We paid for a tier we could not make use of.

Boards multiplied until nobody trusted them

It became a graveyard of half finished boards nobody trusted. In practice, the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. Test it hard during the trial with real volume before committing.
