Works, but the seat bands hurt at our size

It works, we just had to redo our structure after four months of getting it wrong. Critical path scheduling with dependencies and baselines. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Good value, with some real rough edges.

What works

Portfolio roll ups that give a programme director one honest view. The views are flexible.

What does not

Performance degrades on a large workspace. Dollar pricing makes the budget unpredictable.

Visibility across twelve projects, finally

The team asked to keep it after the trial, which has never happened before. Portfolio roll ups that give a programme director one honest view. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. It is not perfect, and it is the right choice for us.

What works

Critical path scheduling with dependencies and baselines. Client facing views mean fewer status emails. Templates mean a new project is set up in minutes.

What does not

Seat bands mean paying for people who do not exist.

Used for 1 to 2 years

Visibility across twelve projects, finally

We rolled it out to twenty two people and adoption was close to complete within a month. An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. It is not perfect, and it is the right choice for us.

What works

An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. Everyone can see what is due this week without asking. Client facing views mean fewer status emails.

What does not

Without governance the number of boards grows out of control.

The whole team adopted it in a fortnight

There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. It is not perfect, and it is the right choice for us.

What works

Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. Everyone can see what is due this week without asking. Templates mean a new project is set up in minutes.

What does not

Reporting is weaker than the task management.

Client reporting takes minutes now

We rolled it out to twenty two people and adoption was close to complete within a month. Critical path scheduling with dependencies and baselines. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. Nothing has come up in the last year that I would call a real problem. I would recommend it to a business of our size without hesitation.

What works

An Excel like formula language spreadsheet users already know. Templates mean a new project is set up in minutes. The mobile app is good enough for approvals on the road.

Too slow on our connection to be usable

It became a graveyard of half finished boards nobody trusted. What surprised me was that the parts we were sold on never worked the way they were demonstrated. The gaps are the kind that create work rather than save it. We moved to an alternative and the difference was immediate.

What works

The free tier is generous.

What does not

It was too slow on our connection. Half the team never adopted it. We paid for a tier we could not make use of.

Time tracking in the same tool changed our billing

There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Two years in and nobody has suggested we look at alternatives.

Time tracking in the same tool changed our billing

Client status reporting used to take a morning a week. Now it takes ten minutes. Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. That is the part that genuinely changed how we work. There are irritations, and none of them are the kind that make you look elsewhere. Worth the migration effort, which is not something I say often.

Fine for tasks, weak for resourcing

Good tool. The pricing bands do not suit a team of our size. Resource allocation across many concurrent projects. Beyond that it is more ordinary than the marketing suggests. It sits squarely in the middle for us, useful but not something I would champion. Good value, with some real rough edges.

What works

Portfolio roll ups that give a programme director one honest view. The views are flexible.

What does not

There is no native time tracking. The learning curve for the advanced features is real.
